Georgian Wired Fire/Safety Glass

Georgian wired safety glass, contains a squared, steel, wired mesh embedded into the glass, it is most frequently used in offices, hotels and schools.

Georgian wired glass is designed to hold the glass together in the event of a breakage or fire. When under stress or exposed to high temperatures, the wired mesh holds the glass together to prevent the glass from exploding.

Georgian wired glass comes in two variations, obscure and polished. Obscure (textured) wired glass provides privacy whereas polished wired glass is clear and provides full visibility. These products are suitable for integrity only situations and do not offer any insulation.

The glass acts as safety barrier and slows down the spread of a fire. The wired safety glass offers a protection time of 30-60 minutes.

There are also some versions which are safety rated to BS EN14449 3(B)3 for impact.

Georgian wired can be cut to your specific measurements and can be glazed internally or externally in fire tested timber and steel frames.
